We never thought we'd see the day when we were encouraging Big Don to eat more calories, but that is what the last week has been. In an effort to get ready for the trip down to Missoula and then a plane ride to Phoenix, we have made him have a few Boosts and Ensures along with some other more edible food and each day he is able to tolerate a bit more and get some more energy. Our best luck has been with grilled cheese and bacon. His first meal out of the house after the hospital was a grilled cheese and bacon sandwich which I am proud to say he finished (well almost he may have had a little help from his eldest son) and he has also enjoyed a bacon egg and cheese biscuit from McDonalds, I know this cancer thing doesn't sound so bad huh. At any rate he is eating and was able to make the trip to Phoenix with mom and his future daughter in law helping him along. And thanks to the boys down at Toyota in Kalispell they had their car down in Arizona waiting for them. The next step is doctor appointments on Thursday and Friday. Can't help but think there is a reason that he has two appointments each day and it is the middle of August for this ex football player, this will be nothing compared to those old two-a-days in 100 degree heat and humidity in St. Louis.
We have no idea what the next few months will bring, how he will look or feel, how much grilled cheese and bacon he will tolerate, or how hard the new 'two-a-days' will be, but again we want to say thanks for all the support. As we move forward the best support we can give is to continue living our lives, working hard each day, and taking care of our families, just like Big Don would do.
Big Don and the entire family are in my thoughts each day. Although I don't consider my self much of a "prayer" I will be adding a little of that to my daily life with thoughts of fast recovery and happines and joy for the whole family.

Okay so here is the deal... I personally know that "Big Don" can kick some booty, because we do it all the time here at FBIA, so I have no doubt in the success of kicking this booty as well. Who cares what you look like anyway you always did look like a scrapper from somewhere in the midwest ;~) Go after it and just like you are always telling me regarding my job... "okay, well, let's just get it done". Good Luck Today...I know all will be fine because I said a rosary for you :)
